We are looking for volunteers to check in Blitz Participants during the Home Builders Blitz Build Week.
You would stop the trucks at the beginning of the road, make sure everyone has signed their waivers and knows to drive slow!

Here are some guidelines – but don’t hesitate to call/text Sandra and Tara with questions. Things come up that are hard to predict, but I’ll try to touch on everything in this note.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift to check in. You will be given an eggplant T-shirt to wear. The Blitz Build is rain or shine! Please wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers are perfect), dress in layers, bring a hat, and wear sunscreen.
You are pretty far away from the action, so please plan on taking turns walking up to the Blitz Build house and visiting us in the Hospitality Tent. You are invited to all meals, snacks, or just for a cup of coffee and a treat. Please visit! Thank you for what you are doing!!
Check-In Procedure
Monday morning, we will set up a tent, table, and chairs. Check-in is located as you drive up Jack Delaney Lane (off 401 Setucket Road, South Dennis). There will be a box of supplies and bins of T-shirts.
You can all park in the Visitor/Spectator parking section at the Dennis Senior Center (follow the signage for the Blitz Build). The address for the Dennis Senior Center is 1045 Route 134, South Dennis. Jack Delaney will not be located in GPS.
Signage has also been posted leading up to check-in – we will need cars to drive slowly and be prepared to stop. Everyone will drive down Jack Delaney Lane, then drive back towards Setucket Road, take a right onto Setucket Road, and then turn right to enter the Dennis Senior Center lots.
When vehicles stop, ask if they are visiting as a spectator or if they are participating in the build. Instruct spectators to park in the posted areas (Volunteer/Spectator Parking). Contractors and laborers will park in the Overflow/Contractor parking lot. There is signage for them to follow.
Everyone in the vehicle will need to fill out a waiver. They will be on a clipboard, and you will have a box of pens. Ask what size T-shirt everyone wears and give them the T-shirts (you will have bins of T-shirts separated by size; everyone will get one.) Also, hand out a Deconstruction flyer and an invitation to the Blitz Build Home Dedication Celebration and encourage them to attend on Friday, September 27th. One per vehicle is enough for the invitations. The vehicle operator will also get a hangtag and magnet.
After they turn in their waivers and get their T-shirts, tell them to proceed slowly up Jack Delaney Lane and check in with someone wearing a red T-shirt (these are the lead construction team members).
Waivers are to be stored alphabetically in the provided binder.
Most contractors are there just one day, and they are done. Committee members will be coming and going in and out each day. They can park wherever they choose (Volunteer/Spectator lot or Overflow/Contractor lot). Committee members will be in Red or Eggplant T-shirts.
We have guests coming from Eastern Bank, Cape Cod Five, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, Seamen’s Bank, Shepley Wood Products, and KAM Appliances. Please have them fill out waivers, give them T-shirts and a magnet, and instruct them to park in the Volunteer/Spectator parking lot. These are donors who are covering the cost of food for the week – please thank them.
Champ Homes: A group from Champ Homes will be onsite daily. They come all together in a Champ Homes van and already have T-shirts. They will need to have waivers completed as well.
At the end of the day, all supplies will need to be put in the shed that’s next to the Blitz Build’s home shed.
Please plan on joining us for the Blitz Build Home Dedication Ceremony on Friday, September 27th at 3 PM (arrive at 2:30 PM)!!!
